Customer service is very good. Always fast and helpful responses to queries whether by phone or email. Normally stock levels are good which means orders arrive reasonably speedily. The range of options for fly tying materials is good. I like the briefing emails on fishing techniques and rigs which I think is a differentiator from Essential Fly's competitors. One area where there could be an improvement is the search function on the website. You often get irrelevant choices and you can't narrow the options down. This can be very frustrating when you know what you want but have to trawl through loads of stuff yo get to the item(s) you want. Overall very satisfied which is why I'm a long time repeat customer.

I phoned to place an order and was greeted by a receptionist who was genuinely really helpful and courteous, sadly qualities rarely experienced these days I think she was covering as she mentioned she had a young baby

It's difficult to get fly tying materials here in Germany but it's really easy and quick to order my stuff from essential flies and they are usually here within 14 days... cheers!

This is a relatively small outlet on Ebay and elsewhere but their service and attention to detail in ensuring an excellent customer experience is second to none. When you perhaps cannot find something on the site or it is out of stock, it is always worth a chat with this company as they search elsewhere to meet specific requirements where possible. Highly recommended.

TEF usually have what I need for Fly tying, I ordered an item in their sale that was advent email, turns out the supplier did not have the item in stock. I’ve been trying for some time to get said item, when they told me they couldn’t get it I was disappointed to say the least. Not TEF’s fault, but maybe should not have been advertised for sale?.

We work with specialist suppliers for special order items and usually all is well. When your order was placed, as a special order item, we genuinely did our best to get it for you and our suppliers did too. Supplies of saddles, especially at grade 1, can vary throughout the year and we work with and rely on our partners hence why the materials are shown on the site. Second order over several months. Delivery times were very long and items advertised on both occasions were not in stock or available. Will probably not shop with this company again.

Hello and thank you for your recent orders. I would like to discuss the points you raised and hopefully clarify the situation and reassure you. We have 3 orders from you on record - the first was dispatched same day and the second next day. The most recent one was placed immediately after the Christmas and New Year break. One of the items you ordered was a special order item - the barred fibbets. We carry very large stocks of flies and tying materials but for some items we offer a bespoke special order service. This is where we order in especially for customers from the manufacturers. The site clearly shows both against each product and at check out which items are in stock and which are special order. We also give an estimate as to when the goods are expected in at both stages of online purchase. Unfortunately the supplier of this was not open for a few extra days after the holidays. So as soon as it came in, we dispatched your order to you immediately. I believe it was just 1 day after the estimated timeline. I hope this explains the situation and goes a way to reassuring you of our commitment to customer service. If you would like to discuss it further please do let us know.
